Major Nelson aka Larry Hryb announced today that Crytec’s Crysis Trilogy is now backward compatible on the Xbox One and Xbox One X. Crysis 1, 2 and 3 are $19.99 on the Xbox Store and now available for purchase.
Crysis is a first-person shooter developed by Crytek and published by Electronic Arts. The series revolves around a group of military solders with nanosuits which allows them to gain enhanced physical strength, speed, defense, and cloaking abilities. They face off against North Korean soldiers, heavily armed mercenaries, and a race of technologically advanced aliens known as the Ceph. The game was original released in 2007.
In 2011 Crysis 2 was released. Crysis 2 takes place in 2023 three years after the events of the first game, in a destroyed New York City which has since been evacuated due to alien infestation.
Two years later Crysis 3 was released. The game again is based in New York in 2047, 24 years after the events of Crysis 2. The game was built on the CryEngine 3
