Yesterday at the Sony State of Play broadcast Monster Hunter: Iceborne was annouced for the first time. Monster Hunter is Capcom biggest franchase with over 53 million units, out of which 12 million units were shipped for the latest game Monster Hunter World. The new DLC will be available on Xbox, PC and PlayStation 4 globally on Friday 6th September. Iceborne start with all new story set after the main games and whisks hunters away to a newly discovered ice locale called Hoarfrost Reach.
Iceborne also introduces a new higher difficulty – Master Rank, a new quest tier that makes new and existence monsters more difficult. Speaking of monsters new foes include horned brute wyvern Banbaro and the snow-buried Beotodus. These interweave with returning favourites such as the swift-attacking Nargacuga who adds some dangerous new tricks. Leading the pack in Iceborne is the mysterious new flagship monster Velkhana, an elder dragon with powerful ice attacks that is a pervasive threat in the new story.
The DLC will also feature an extended combat repertoire, each of the 14 weapon types will get new combos and new elements.
To play the DLC you will first need to complete the original main story through to Hunter Rank 16. The DLC is priced at $39.99 with a Deluxe and Master Edition availbe.
